We offer two types of hair removal, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and Electrolysis, at Complexions which are both performed by Tracey. If you pre-pay your treatments in bulk, you'll receive 10 % off the original price! Which treatment will be right for you? Well, there's a difference between IPL and Electrolysis.
IPL hair removal is a non invasive treatment that uses broad-spectrum light to target and reduce unwanted hair. Using a range of light wavelengths, the IPL device delivers pulses of lights which the pigment (melanin) in the hair grabs onto which is heated then damages and destroys the hair follicle and root over time. IPL can be used all over the body where hair grows and is highly recommended to only be performed in the cooler months as high sun exposure can damage the skin. Depending on your desired treatment area, a course of 6-8 initial treatments is required to achieve optimal results. After this period, treatments will be needed less frequently.
Electrolysis uses a very different procedure to IPL as it targets individual hairs rather than a large area at once, and, it isn't light based. Instead, electrolysis is the process of using a thin needle that is inserted into the hair follicle which then sends an electrical current to the root of the hair which kills the root as well as the hair follicle. Electrolysis can be used on most areas of the body including face, eyebrows, abdomen, thighs, breasts, and legs. Both IPL hair removal and electrolysis are progressive treatments which means multiple treatments are needed for results.
